A Busy Month! by Rory and Rose

Its been such a busy month with quite a few 'lost camera' moments and a couple of 'lost camera cable' moments too! Now we have our photos and video clips uploaded and we're ready to blog!!

In July we've celebrated Canada Day, Canada's birthday. We all wore our red and white outfits with Canada tee shirts and Rose wore her Canada leggings too.

We've played in the paddling pool (which is like bath water when its warmed up by the sun for a day)

and we've played in the sand pit.

The missing piece arrived for Rose's playnest and she has loved playing in it.

We have spent lots of time picnic-ing at our favourite wading pools

and lots of time at the cottage.

We went on a trip to the Farm where Rory played on a tractor

and we have been to the park where Rory played on the climbing frame, slide and swings.

For most of July Rory has been going to afternoon camp. Last week the theme was Myths and Magic and Rory dressed up as a pirate for the last day.

This week we are at the cottage all week long! We have played in the water, dug in the sand, watched the wildlife (we saw a cast of ten turkey vultures by the graveyard- spooky!! (http://www.vulture-territory.com/turkey.html) and a snake in the lake- it rhymes but is not poisonous!!

 Monday was a bank holiday and lots of our friends came to play at the cottage. We had lots of fun; Rory played and shared with all the children and Rose was happily cuddled and held by lots of the mummy's.

Rose is getting bigger and stronger every day. She loves to stand up and is working on rolling over.

She has a fabulous giggle and is often found sucking her fingers. Rose bathes almost every night with Rory and sleeps from about 8pm. She wakes up whenever Rory wakes up the house which is more often than not about 7am these days. She also LOVES to play peekaboo!

Rory is also growing bigger and stronger but more in will than stature! He loves to wear a backpack, trainers and hat so he can play at being Diego Animal Rescuer, which is what he wants to be when he grows up!

Life Under & On The Ocean Waves, by Rory

This week I had no school and summer camp hasn't started yet so Mummy, Rose and I had a fun week at home. We made our kitchen window into an aquarium complete with a whale's tail, fishes, shells and pebbles, pirate treasure, a submarine, a jellyfish and all topped off with a boat floating on top. We read books about the sea, fishes and pirates.

On Thursday we had 'Pirate Day' and I dressed up like a pirate in the costume Auntie Sara sent me for my 3rd birthday. We made a pirate flag.

We made pirate treasure out of clay which Mummy baked in the oven. When it was cool Mummy sprayed it gold with some smelly paint and then I decorated them with gems. My favourite bit of treasure is the bracelet. It has lots of jewels!

Mummy and I talked like a pirate for some of the day. Mummy said 'Yo ho ho and a bottle of apple juice!' Here is me being a pirate;

This week I had some friends round to play. Becca and Tom helped me paint my bird house. The birds like to come and eat seeds from our deck.

Mummy and I are very proud of ourselves as we have walked Ollie every day this week. I like to ride my run bike round the dog park. This week I tried to bike down the hill where I hurt myself last week. This time I got to the bottom safely. I was very pleased with myself!

This week I have been working on being a big boy. Each morning I have chosen my clothes and got dressed by myself. I have brushed my teeth every day without having to be reminded and have used the potty all the time without any accidents! I am very proud of myself and Mummy and Daddy are too.
I'm a big boy now!

(Although I still can't quite get the hang of putting my shirts on the right way round!!)

July 1st is Canada Day so we will post some news about that tomorrow! I love Canada Day and prefer to call it 'Candy Day'!!

A Busy Week, by Rose

This has been a busy week for our family. Daddy has been away for a couple of nights, Rory has graduated from nursery school not once but twice and I've been growing and growing! The weather has been busy too with lots of sun at the start of the week and lots of rain and thunderstorms at the end.

On Thursday the rain stopped long enough for us to go to the park with Ollie. On our way we stopped to watch the digger make the hole at the end of the street even bigger.

The noise was so loud we had to cover our ears!!

My big brother went to the park on his run bike. He loves to go really fast so he can lift up his feet.

At the park he went down the slide really fast too. I think he likes speed!!

Later Mummy and Rory made a cake. It smelled yummy and they enjoyed eating it for snack, although I think Rory preferred licking the bowl.

Yesterday I went to see my first movie at the cinema. We went to see 'Cars Movie 2' It was dark and mummy cuddled me the whole time so I slept through most of it. Rory was very excited about the trip. He sat next to his best friend Isla and ate almost all of the popcorn! It was Rory's first time at the cinema too and Mummy and Daddy were very happy about how sensible he behaved.

This week I have grown out of more of my 0-3 month clothes! Mummy says I'm a giant baby and lots of friends have commented on my chubby cheeks!

I love to chatter with Mummy and Daddy and Rory and adore having my feet rubbed!

This afternoon we're going to a birthday party for our friend Tui, who is turning one. Next week should be another busy week as Rory has no school or summer camp and Friday will be my first Canada Day!

Graduation Week, by Rory

This was my last week at Westboro Nursery School and on Wednesday afternoon and Thursday morning I said 'Goodbye' to my teachers and the friends I have made there this year. I dressed up smart for both days and brought a gift for my teachers Wendy and Raewen. I gave them a pot of tomato plants each. I decorated the pots and wrote my name in their cards. Mummy helped me.

We started our Graduation parties by singing songs with Miss Shannon. She has taught us music all year long.

Then we had snack; ice lollies and yummy summer fruits.

After that we gathered on the carpet for The Big Presentation. I was very excited on Wednesday afternoon. I just couldn't wait for my turn!!

This is what I have in my special memory book;

I loved spending the time celebrating with my friends and tried to listen carefully, despite my excitement.

Rose listened really carefully too, especially to Miss Shannon and her music!

I have loved my year at Westboro Nursery School and will miss everyone very much but I am very excited about starting big boy school next September!

Rory's Gym Show, by Rory

Last Friday I had my last gym class and we did a show for all our mummies and daddies. Mummy forgot her camera so another mummy shared the pictures she took. They arrived today so here they are;

Mummy said I did excellent balances and rolls and jumps and swings! I had lots of fun and all the mummies and daddies clapped when we finished. I was awarded this certificate!

I will miss my teachers Ziggy and Chilli and my friends Lucas and Alice.
